Note: The "switch hook" is the button on the handset that pushes down when you hang up the phone. Some telephones have a Link or Flash key you can press instead. Does not work on 800 numbers, 900 numbers, outside the specified service area, or lines where Call Forward and some other call services have been activated.
Dont want to be disturbed? Waiting for that one important call? Know who is calling without picking up the receiver. When you receive a call, the name and number of the person calling you is shown on your Caller ID display screen. Plus, calls received when you arent home are saved for later access. How to Use: When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes a second ringing signal. The telephone number calling you and the name associated with that number in the Dubois Telephone Exchange records-will automatically appear on your display screen. If you choose to answer the call, the name and number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up. Note: Subscription to Caller ID service requires the purchase of a display telephone or add-on display unit. If the letter "P" or "Private" appears on your display after the second ring, the caller may have blocked the display of their name and number by pressing *67 (or dialing 1167 on a rotary phone) before placing the call. You can choose whether or not to answer the call. If "unknown name", "unknown number", "out of area", or "0" appears, the caller is in an area that does not support Caller ID services.
By dialing a code before you place a call, you can prevent your phone number from appearing on the Caller ID display of the person receiving your call. How to use:
Note: You must dial *67 before each call you place. Otherwise, your phone number will be released to the person receiving your call. If you have requested Per Line Blocking from your telephone company, you do not need to dial a code to block your number each time. Your number will always appear as "Private", to override the service, dial *82 before placing your call.
Reject calls from parties who have intentionally blocked their caller name and number information. How to use:

Bothersome callers? Now you can program your phone to reject calls from any number you place in the rejection list. When your service is turned "on," any caller(s) in this list will hear an announcement that youre not accepting calls at this time. All other calls will ring through as usual. How to use:

This forwarding is performed in the central office and is constant. Programming for Remote Call Forwarding is performed by the telecommunications company at the request of the customer.
You can program your phone to forward only those calls from a special list of numbers to another number such as your car phone. When your service is turned "ON," calls from numbers in your forward list will be re-routed to your "forward to" number. All others will ring at your phone as usual. How to use:

Call Transfer and 3-Way Calling Call Transfer You can transfer a call to another number or add a third person to a call. When youre ready to hang up, the other two people can continue their conversation.
When youre talking with someone, you can add a third person to the call. Its easy to coordinate family schedules or hold a telephone conference with business colleagues. To transfer a call:

Know who the call is for as soon as it rings! Two, three, or four different phone numbers can be assigned to your home telephone line. This feature receives incoming calls for you, plays your recorded message and records callers' messages, functioning as an answering service. Voice Mail gives you the services of an answering machine without power failure and in some exchanges it takes calls while your line is busy, so you don't miss any important calls. DTE has staff on hand that can help design the right Voice Mail options to fit your home or business needs. Clicking on each Voice Mail package will take you to an instructions list for each option. At this time voice Mail is not available in all service areas.
